One of the key fundraisers for the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation gets underway Monday, as the Equip to Care Radiothon begins.

The radiothon will be held Monday through Thursday from 6:00am to 6:00pm, broadcasted live from the Humboldt District Health Complex on 107.5 Bolt FM.

Executive Director of the HDHF, Lorrie Bunko says that they are once again inviting you for breakfast to start the day off.

"We are going to serving muffins and fruit, coffee, tea, water, and we just want to say a huge thank you to the Humboldt Co-op for generously donating the fruit and muffins for that. They've been a big supporter of the radiothon over the years."

Dubbed as the 'Kick-off Coffee Break', it will be held exclusively Monday from 8:45 to 10:45am in the hospital cafeteria.

Even if your financial situation prohibits you from making a donation, Bunko says they would still like to see as many people join them for the coffee break as possible.

"Still come down, its our health care. Our hospital belongs to all of us and we just want to see you out and help us launch this radiothon."

This year marks the 30th anniversary for the foundation, and Bunko noted that they are setting a goal of $30,000 for the four day event - one thousand dollars for each year.

The foundation is also bringing in entertainment for 2016 as an ode to past fundraisers, according to Bunko.

"Years ago when the foundation first started, there used to be an amateur night and it was in partnership with the radio station and people throughout the area would perform and people would call in and make donations in support of those performers, while benefiting health care."

If you wish to donate to the radiothon, you can do so in person at the hospital, or by calling 306-682-4450. There are also ways to donate online through the radiothon page on DiscoverHumboldt, as well as the HDHF website.
