The Humboldt and District Gallery has a new exhibit which aims to draw attention to the plight of honeybees.

Continuous by Monique Martin is a multi sensory art installation featuring the sounds and smell of a beehive, and it comments on the decline in honeybee populations.

That includes panels hanging from the ceiling and a participatory hive wall, said Katelyn Roughley, the museum’s cultural programmer.

“The artist also created this interactive experience where visitors feel like they’re immersed in a live beehive.”

The exhibit opened January 2 and visitors have appreciated the warm, summery atmosphere, she said.

The gallery will host a reception with Martin, a multidisciplinary artists and art educator form Saskatoon who has displayed in 9 countries, on January 10 at 7 p.m.

Continuous runs until March 3.
