The Annaheim Playground Commitee hosted a Family Fun Skate Night Fundraiser on Friday from 3:45 - 8:30 PM.

People in the community of Annaheim could enjoy a skate at the arena in town while helping to provide funds for a new playground in the community. Money was raised through a silver collection at the door, food sales, 50/50 draw, and other contests.

The playground committee needs around $120,000 to replace the old wooden structure and swing set at the park. So far, the commitee has raised about $45,000.

"Both structures are about 20 years old and they are starting to show a lot of wear, so it's time to replace it," said Charlene Choboter, treasurer of the committee.

Other ways the committee has raised money for the playground include raffle ticket sales for prizes, barbeques, applying for grants, and random donations.

"If it gets to the point where the playground is unsafe, we may have to take it down. Then if that is the case, there is nothing at the park for the kids to play on."

The goal is to have enough money for the playground in about a year and a half.
