The case of a woman who went missing near Kenaston in early December is now being considered a homicide.

Just over four months have passed since police began investigating the disappearance of 51-year-old Sheree Fertuck.

She was last seen leaving her family's farmyard east of Kenaston, and has not been seen since.

RCMP Staff Sargeant Murray Chamberlain gave an update on her disappearance at a news conference Monday morning.

"With all the evidence we have - some of which, I can't speak of here today, but also, no contact with the family, which is extremely out of the norm for Sheree, no banking activity, no activity on her hospital card. All those things add up to say this is a homicide."

The Major Crimes Unity has prepared a timeline that outlines Fertuck's last known activity, hoping it may lead to information regarding her vanishing.

With that information in hand, police will begin searching more specific areas for any traces of Fertuck on Wednesday.

Multiple investigative units will be used in the process.

"Our mission is to find Sheree and bring her home," Chamberlain stated.

Land owners in the area will be notified of police presence, and public assistance is not being asked.
