There is a way for adult members of the Humboldt community to feel like kids again this Christmas.

The annual Festival of Lights at the Humboldt campground kicks off today, and residents young and old are welcome to drive through the Christmas lights displays and join in the spirit of the holiday season.

Several local businesses are participating in the event and proceeds raised from the silver collection established at the site will be going toward the fundraising efforts of the Humboldt Big Brothers Big Sister's Game On program for young men in our local schools.

Stacey Poss, the Executive Director of the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce, with how the event came about:

"The Festival of Lights is an annual event. It started out from a need for businesses in Humboldt and District to promote their businesses, but also engage in the Christmas spirit."

Poss says the event is an important one to the Humboldt Community. She says many families return to the light exhibit several times throughout the season.

" The children and families in our community really look forward to it. We're proud to be able to host something like that".

Poss also says the Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the Northern Lights Casino for funding the electricity uses to illuminate the displays.

The Festival of Lights is a great chance to delight in the simple pleasure of gazing at Christmas lights and displays and to bring anyone back to the excitement they felt in doing so as a child.

"It's the opportunity to send Christmas greetings for the entire season!"

The displays will be open every evening from now until January 9th.
