After years of planning, and a huge setback in the form of a fire, the North Eastern Outreach and Support Services women's and children's center in Melfort is nearing completion.

"We are very fortunate our building is moving along very quickly right now, it's pretty well on progress and timelines for our spring start up." Louise Schweitzer the Executive Director with NEOSS is very pleased with the progress they are making on their facility.

When completed the building will act as a center for women and children where they can go to escape violence and abuse.

Schweitzer looks forward to getting in their new building.

"We are looking at starting our move into portions of the top floor by the end of February."

Schweitzer says though building is almost up, there is still work to be done.

"Our fundraising goal for our capital campaign which is our phase 2 is $1.25 million. At this point we are over 50% there...We have had amazing response from our community members, sponsporships and different kinds of fundraisers being held on our behalf."

She says if anyone is interested in getting involved with the fundraising to contact the NEOSS office.

"Give us a call, we'll work with you, we'll do third party fundraising events, we'll come out and help promote it, we'll be at the event for questions. We want to say a wonderful thank-you to anybody out there who is, in their own way assisting, every dollar counts."
