Look, listen, and learn was the theme for this year's fire prevention week in Humboldt.

Fire prevention week took place from the 9th to the 12th of October as it runs every year during the second week of this month. Children in Humboldt got the chance to learn first hand on how to prevent a fire.

An open house at the fire hall in Humboldt was the first event on Tuesday. During the open house, the firefighters presented children with the equipment used to put out a fire and rescue people. The open house also allowed children to go through the Saskatchewan Association of Firechiefs Fire Trailer. The trailer allows children to run through a simulation on how to get out of a house fire. Throughout the week, the department also sent material on fire prevention to the four schools in Humboldt.

"Basically look for fire and different fire hazards that you have, listen for your smoke alarms and learn about fire safety," said Mike Kwasnica on the theme for this year.

Fire prevention week is recognized all throughout North America as next year there will be a new theme for children to learn.
