A successful, first-of-its-kind fundraising effort in Lake Lenore made for a fun and entertaining Saturday night.

Saskatoon-based hypnotist, Jamie James put several attendees under hypnosis at the Valentine's Night Out, which was hosted by St. Anthony's Parish Council and the Knights of Columbus.

Parish council chairman, Eric Gerwing, says the addition of James added to the fun and laughter during the course of the evening. The night included a supper, dance and silent auction as well.

Gerwing says the turnout was great. "We're encouraged to do it again next year!" he says.

An estimated $12-14,000 was raised through ticket sales, silent auction and 50/50 raffle and contributions from the community. He says the parish council is thankful to everyone who made the evening such a success.

The proceeds will be going towards renovations and repairs to the church. Gerwing says the parish has a goal in mind:

"We're trying to get it into tip-top shape for its centennial birthday in 2021!"
