From California to Humboldt, Amy Fisher is an author who is set to release her first young adult novel.

Originally from the Golden State, Fisher now resides just outside of Humboldt, while working within the city.

She is set to officially release the novel The Face You See on March 19 at the Humboldt and District Gallery.

"The first book has a lot of what a young woman would do in circumstances of abusive situations," "Its about how this girl overcomes that and how she finds love and friendships that help her see through these terrible circumstances."

Fisher added that there are three more books in the series to be released, in addition to writing her first adult fiction novel.

As to where the idea for the book series came from, Fisher stated that it was a first hand account of seeing the impact on others.

"I started volunteering with young adults. Some with issues and some with abusive pasts. It was kind of like a big brother, big sister, except it was a group."

She noted that when living in Alaska, she continued to work with the same group of people but instead they lived with her.

Upon release, the book will be available at Elite Salon and Spa, Free Spirit Market, and potentially other stores. It can also be purchased online by searching Amelia Legend, which is her pen name.
