At the Watson ADM terminal Saturday there was a BBQ fundraiser as well as five local farmers combining a canola field to raise funds for the Watson Rec Fund and other organizations.

Local farmer Calvin Buhs gives us the details on the combining.

"We have five combines here today, we have Jason Friesen, he's bringing a Klaus combine, Murry Elhert running a massy, I have our combine KMK sales running a massy as well, Patterson AG out of Humboldt bringing their John Deer and Central Farms out of Humboldt bringing a New Holland, We have five very good combines here."

They will be combining around 110 acres of canola and the funds made from the crop will go to the Watson Rec Board and other organizations.

During the lunch hour, they had a bbq where the proceeds when straight to the Quill Plains Health Facility.

Buhs tells us about what the money will help achieve.

"The silver collection proceeds will be going to the quill plains facility. We're looking at doing an expansion to the quill plains lodge, a wing, some modifications interior, and laundry, there is a project in the plans."

Overall the day was a success and the weather was great for combining.
