A pair of former Humboldt Broncos will assemble and continue their hockey career south of the border.

On May 31st, Cole Kirkup announced he'll be committing to Northland College for the upcoming season. The LumberJacks are an NCAA Div III program out of Ashland, Wisconsin.

Kirkup will join Broncos' past Captain, Graysen Cameron, who made the same decision in late April to attend Northland and suit up for the LumberJacks.

Kirkup was traded to the Valley Wildcats of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League just prior to the start of the 2019/2020 season. The year before, in 2018/19, he added 11 points (5g,6a) and 112 penalty minutes in 39 games with the Broncos.

Kirkup's final year of Junior eligibility was his best yet. He led all Wildcats players in points with 33 (9g, 24a) en route to being named the team's MVP.

Kirkup finished his Junior career having played for four teams across three leagues. Overall, he ended up with 67 points (26g, 41a) and 513 penalty minutes in 179 Junior A games played.
