Watson based Failure Prevention Services is the first ever Mission:Zero Award winner for Saskatchewan businesses 25 and under.

General Manager Dan Beuker explains some programs they have implemented that would have helped them win the award.

"Working towards a culture, talking about safety, having it in newsletters, we put in a gym for training and conditioning of our staff and we've supported that with a pay program that gives the employees some money to utilize."

They encourage that funding to go to such things as golf memberships or swimming passes, anything to help stay active and healthy.

Beuker says they joined Mission:Zero in 2010 after hearing the province has the worst injury numbers in Canada.

"The group that presented it to us said here's the facts and they were pretty staggering that we have to do something about this. As a leader I felt it was our responsibility to do what we can to change that culture."

Saskatchewan now ranks fourth among injury stats in Canada. A number Beuker says he's proud of but there is still work to do. He is also extremely proud of their staff for their continuous efforts to focus on safety.

"Incredibly, the management group has realized it's a balance of happy, healthy employees are a benefit to themselves and a benefit to the company."

Beuker was presented with the award in Regina on June 9th.
