This weekend has been declared Free fishing weekend for all of Saskatchewan.

Free Fishing Weekend allows people, from July 14th - 15th, to fish without a license.

The event was started by "Catch Fishing" in 1989 says Murray Koob, Sport/Fish Specialist for the Ministry of Environment.

"it involves all provinces where free fishing opportunities are made throughout the year, to help promote the sport of fishing and to appreciate the outdoors."

However, all other fishing rules and regulations are in effect for the weekend.

Koob made it clear that Free Fishing Week was created to celebrate the sports of fishing.

"fishing is an important part to the province, not only socially but also economically, as well as individually it can provide you with relaxation, enjoyment of the outdoors, and a number of the outdoors as well.
