Normally an overcast day with precipitation in November for Humboldt it equals snow fall and accumulation.

With the above average temperatures we have been seeing this year today Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning which came into effect late Monday morning.

EC Emergency Preparedness Meteorologist John-Paul Cragg says the temperature is right in that freezing zone.

"Near Humboldt where it's just on the edge of that warm-cold transition there could be some areas still seeing freezing rain as it comes down with temperatures zero to minus one."

The rain is expected to taper off as the day moves along but we could see some flurries Tuesday morning which could make things worse if there is a sheet of ice under a blanket of snow.

Surprisingly, freezing rain warnings aren't that uncommon these days in November Cragg tells us.

"It was such a warm winter we had last year, we had so many symptoms that were passing across the province where temperatures were just right around that zero degree mark, just the perfect conditions for freezing rain. It isn't a typical situation on the prairies but this year we have been so warm in November."

Cragg predicts the above average November weather to continue through out the month.
