The Jubilee Hall at the Uniplex has been transformed into a ye old ghost town...at least for the weekend.

The Humboldt Theatre Club presented their fourth production, "A Golden Fleecing", Friday and Saturday.

Director Sarah Miller says the club began with auditions back in October and since then, countless hours of rehearsals, late nights and hard work have all culminated in the debut of the rip roarin' Western-themed production.

This season's production was randomly selected, but Miller says she always likes to stick to a play with comedic elements.

"Just getting a good laugh from the audience encourages us on stage. We like to have fun with it", she says of the lighthearted play.

This was the first time the Theatre Club chose the Uniplex as the venue, and in doing so, Miller says it allowed for her to produce a play on a much grander scale. The group had the benefit of a larger stage, lapel mics so the audience could hear the actors more clearly, and the dinner component was through catering from the Bella Vista Inn.

Seven cast members performed to a sold-out crowd opening night, and Miller says she hopes for a similar reception at Saturday evening's performance at 7pm.

Part of the proceeds from the show will go to the Humboldt SPCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Miller, along with her production team, would like to extend "a big thank you" to the sponsors and the audiences for their support over the course of the club's four productions.

Auditions for the next production will be held in early spring, and theatre-goers can expect a new production in early fall. Interested parties looking to join the Humboldt Theatre Club are encouraged to do so by contacting Miller via the club's Facebook page.
