School Divisions across the province released their budget plans for the 2016-17 school year, including the Horizon school Division and Englefeld Protestant Separate School Division.

The budget includes a $4 million deficit for Horizon School Division, and recent reductions in administrative spending has kept that deficit from growing.

Meanwhile, the single-school Englefeld Protestant Separate School Division has a $10 thousand deficit running, despite receiving $30 thousand more money from the Government.

Deficits nearly all across the board as School divisions handed in their yearly budgets on or before June 30th.

Horizon will spend $85.3 million next school year, with projects such as the St. Brieux School.

Englefeld Protestant Separate School Division will be spending $1.2 million,  using some of that money to hire an educational assistant and administrative staff.

June 30th was the deadline for the budget to be finalized and submitted for each School division.

Anywhere from 50-80 percent of funds School Divisions receive is from Provincial grants.

There are 41 Schools under the Horizon School Division, while there is only 1 in Englefelds's School Division.
