A new grain bag recycling program is being introduced in Saskatchewan.

The province says the program will enable grain producers to hand in their grain bags for recycling rather than burning them.

Environment Minister Dustin Duncan says they have teamed up with Cleanfarms - a non-profit environmental organization, who will set up 20 collection sites this year.

Duncan says Saskatchewan will become the first province in Canada with an agricultural plastics recycling program.

Cleanfarms plans to launch more collection sites next year.
