Whether the water at Greenwater Provincial Park is safe to drink or not will soon no longer be a worry for visitors.

The Government of Saskatchewan announced on Wednesday that the popular destination located 150 kilometres northeast of Humboldt is part of capital upgrades this year.

Over $1.3-million is being put in to work at Greenwater as well as Narrow Hills.

With the money, the water treatment system will be upgraded at Greenwater, which includes the installation of a new membrane treatment process that will ensure safe drinking water.

"Provincial parks are an important part of Saskatchewan's quality of life and are more popular than ever," says Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Mark Docherty. "Projects like these help to ensure that visitors to our parks have a great experience."

Work on the system will begin in the fall and is expected to be completed in time for the 2017 season.

The announcement comes as Saskatchewan Parks Week is observed in the province until Saturday.
