A Winnipeg man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing deaths in the May 2015 crash that killed three teenage boys from Carrot River.

Normand Lavoie was scheduled to appear in court to begin his trial for criminal negligence on June 12.

With the guilty plea, sentencing arguments will now take place instead of the trial. They are expected to begin in August.

Kristian Skalicky, Carter Stevenson and Justin Gaja were returning home from a football camp on May 3, 2015, when they approached a construction zone.

Lavoie, who was driving a semi, failed to slow down and slammed into the back of the car, killing the boys and injuring a nearby flagworker after the car hit the worker.
