The City of Humboldt celebrated 20 years of the Aquatic Centre Wednesday.

Manager Pam Adam is very proud of what the pool has to offer.

"This is a great facility that the patrons of Humboldt and surrounding area can use all year round. We offer swimming lessons every season of the year, we have public swimming, we have special event swims, we have fun swim club, it's just a great place for people to come down."

She definitely stressed how far and wide the facility is enjoyed.

"We have people coming for swimming lessons that drive even two hours away to come here, schols sometimes from two to three hours. This year we had school group come from Hudson Bay so I mean they are driving quite a distance to make an appearance at the facility."

Adam says they had a good day recognizing the milestone.

"It's been fairly busy, we've seen about 135 people come through the door. We just got a few new pool toys last week so the kids aren't really wanting to leave the pool for their cupcakes yet but we have lots for everyone so so far our day has been good."

For it's age, Adam says the pool is in excellent shape, she credits the three week maintenance shut down every January that they undertake to help prolong the life of the facility.

The pool was opened in 1996, the water slide was added about seven years later.
