Runners in Humboldt took to the community trail on Monday night to enjoy a round of exercise, as well as to help with a local organization.

The annual Night Terrors Run took place, just ahead of Halloween.

Andy MacAnally, who is involved with the Humboldt Running Club, which hosted the event, says that it is a perfect time to do the run.

"The fun of running down that wonderful trail at night, and around Halloween as well, that puts an added bonus on," he noted. "It also gives us an opportunity to show the community that the trail can be used by everyone."

This year marked the fifth year that the event has been hosted, and it hasn't gone without some interesting moments.

"The first couple of times we did it, my kids were in the scouts, and we would have lots of cubs and scouts come along, as well as my dog," MacAnally said. "The dog would then run into the bush and you move your flashlight around and you see these two bright things staring at you and it would be the dog's eyes."

An entry fee for the run was $10, which was collected and will be donated to the Humboldt Food Bank.

"There's always a need at the food bank, so they are always a fitting partner."
