Haus of Stitches is once again hosting a knitting retreat that begins Friday, lasting until Sunday.

Formerly held at Manitou Beach, the retreat has since moved to St. Peter's College in Muenster, according to owner Wendy Toye.

"We were there for about 13 or 14 years and when it was sold. The new owners weren't interested in us, so we went back to St. Pete's where we have our conference, and they have their new guest wing open, so we've been out there now for about five years."

The retreat is described by Toye as an inspirational journey through mentoring, sharing of ideas, as well as techniques that develop skills and creativity within each participant.

"We do some classes, it's a lot of fun. This year we're bringing in a designer to do a lecture," she explained. "Her knitting company is called Knot Enough Knitting, and she's a designer. She's going to show her wears and explain some of the techniques and work with people over the weekend."

Aside from knitting, the weekend also allows for relaxation and fellowship among the knitters. Something Toye believes is very beneficial.

"I think it's really important for a lot of customers to be able to get away to a retreat, do something they like, and be with people who are interested in what they do."

All skill levels of knitters are welcome, with a wide range of the knitting world being covered.
