The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation held its 8th annual Have a Heart Walk or Run Sunday morning.

This year, participants were able to walk or run in memory of a loved one, gathering pledges or making donations in their remembered loved one's name, and having their name placed on a recognition sign on the walk route.

Lorrie Bunko, Executive Director of the HDHF, told us about the equipment that will be purchased with the funds raised.

"There's two big pieces of equipment we're going to be needed in the next couple of years.  One is a fetal heart monitor, and one is an ultrasound that also does echocardiograms."

Bunko also added about the event "It means a lot to the community, it's for our hospital, it's for cardiac equipment, which covers a lot of people in this area.  There are over 35,000 people in the Humboldt user district, and cardiac equipment is a well-utilized area in our hospital."

Participants were able to walk a 4.3 km route; a 9 hole walk, or an 18.6 km route; 18 holes.

A total of $5,672 was raised.
