Walking a cart path will help put some dollars towards health care on Sunday.

The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation is hosting their 6th Annual Have a Heart Walk, Run, which features a change of scenery.

"This year we're hosting the event at the Humboldt Golf Course. We're doing a 9-hole walk and a 18-hole walk," said Executive Director Lorrie Bunko. "We've done that just for the safety of our participants. There is a lot of traffic out there and we always worry when our participants go out with that traffic."

"We have a beautiful golf course and the scenery is going to be amazing."

Each year, the foundation offers participants a chance to dress up in a certain theme. With the 30th anniversary of the foundation this year, Bunko says the walk is fit for a celebration.

"We are asking participants to get creative and dress for the party theme. However, it is not mandatory so if people aren't comfortable dressing up, they do not have to."

Being the sixth year that the walk has taken place, Bunko says that participation in the walk has seen a steady support group, but they are always pleased to see new faces.

"We always see that continued support. It gets to be harder because there are so many walks and runs out there," she explained. "It's great because it is participACTION, it's getting people out and it is all for supporting health care."

The walk is the last of four marquee events the foundation holds each year, though they still do have more dates circled on the 2016 calendar.

On October 21, a celebration will take place marking the 30th Anniversary of the foundation. Later in the year, another fundraiser will commence as their mail out Christmas Angels campaign begins.
