The Humboldt Collegiate Institue's breakfast program received a small boost thanks to a generous donation from two local businesses.

Just before Christmas, Humboldt Co-op and Rona provided HCI with $250 worth of gift cards to provide additional food for their breakfast program.

"It was awesome, it's going to help us out quite a bit. We received these cards just prior to Christmas, so it was a great blessing for us as a school, and our students and going to really benefit from it," said Cory Popoff, Principal of HCI.

The school's breakfast program provides healthy snacks in the morning that the student can grab before heading into class.

"Students in the morning can stop by and snack on things. It really helps our students concentrate in class and they really like that service. Healthy foods are our focus, and there's quite a bit of uptake. We probably have around 75 to 100 students take advantage of this program every day."
