Students at Humboldt Collegiate Institute are bringing the consequences of drunk driving to the forefront this week.

March 6 to 10 is Impaired Driving Awareness Week in Saskatchewan, and Students Against Drunk Driving at HCI is getting involved.

"It is important for our SADD chapter to have students involved in this important week," says ambassador Jordan LaBuick.

"The importance of this week is to educate students and getting them involved and educate them on the consequences that take place when driving impaired."

Throughout the week, the group has put together several events for the student body to take part in.

On Wednesday, they are serving mocktails. SADD speaker Joey Cowan will be speaking at the school on Thursday morning, while during the noon hour, there is a Minute to Win It challenge, involving the use of beer goggles, which give a glimpse of visual impairment.

During lunch on Friday is the event that students look forward to when they have an opportunity to pin teachers to the wall.

"Students of HCI will be taping Principal Cory Popoff and Vice-Principal David Millette to the wall," explained LaBuick. "It is a fundraiser, so staff and students need to buy a piece of tape for one dollar each."

"We will see if we can stick them both to the walls of HCI."

LaBuick added that community members are also welcome to come in and put a piece of tape on Popoff and Millette during that time.
