It was a celebration 30 years in the making.

The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation held their 30th Anniversary Friday night.

At the event, BHP Billiton potash announced another donation to HDHF.

Manager of Community with BHP Billiton Ken Smith talks about the decision to donate every year.

"tremendous opportunity to partner with the community in terms of helping improve the health and wellness services available to local residents."

Smith explains why BHP donates to HDHF.

"In part because of our activities at the Jansen project, but also the surrounding region where we're in very close proximity to, so that's a major determining factor for us. We try to focus the majority of our funds that we invest to the province of Saskatchewan to this local area in and around the immediate area for the Jansen Potash project."

Executive Director for HDHF Lorrie Bunko describes their reaction to the news.

"We were very surprised and happy that they're giving us the funding for Sunrise Clinical Manager. They're just a great partner in the whole district for so many organizations and communities. We're very greatful to have them as well as other donors."

Bunko also says the vision for the foundation hasn't changed over the years.

"The vision of the Hospital Foundation 30 years ago is pretty much the same now, and that's providing exceptional health care close to home. For our rural district we work very hard, listen to the people, we raise funds, we have great support, and we will continue in the next 30 years to keep providing exceptional health care close to home with the equipment."

More than $150,000 was used last year to help pay for items such as specialty mattresses and a helicopter landing pad.

More than $23,000 of those dollars came from BHP Billiton.
