With a continuous list of equipment and supplies to purchase, fundraising efforts never cease for the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.

Each year, the group receives generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations that amazes Executive Director Lorrie Bunko.

The latest donation from the Good Neighbour Store has enabled the foundation to cross a pair of needs off their list earlier than expected.

"That $81,000 donation is going to allow us to purchase a bariatric bed, which we never thought we were going to purchase before the end of the year. It will also allow us to purchase the reprocessor for endoscopy."

In addition to various donations, the foundation continues on with their key fundraisers each year, which include the Equip to Care Radiothon on Bolt FM, golf tournament, Have a Heart Run, Walk or Bike, and Christmas angels.

Through those fundraisers, and peeking ahead to the future, Bunko added that the next few years will be crucial for the foundation and the hospital.

"We're looking at equipment two or three years down the road. We already know that our main ultrasound is going to have to be replaced, which has a huge price tag to it," she stated. "We hope that support continues and everybody sees the value in this hospital offered to over 30,000 people within the district."

The new year will mark a milestone for the foundation, as they reach 30 years of promoting health within the Humboldt area.

"We're going to highlight that starting with our newsletter and giving some stats, showing how much money we have raised and dispersed to purchase equipment over those years."

A celebration for the 30 year history of the foundation is expected in the fall.
