As the Town of Watson continues to grow, so to does their list of things to upgrade and take care of.

A recent addition to the future of health care has been a new foundation, which will help raise funds and better the care home in the town, according to Mayor Norma Weber.

"We are very excited about the incorporation of the Quill Plains Health Care Foundation," she exclaimed. "It has been created to facilitate the needs of the Quill Plains Lodge in Watson. Whether it be extensive renovations to our present facility, or partial replacement."

Weber added that adding the foundation will allow for the betterment of health care in the community for the future. Among the services offered at the lodge includes long term care, palliative care, physician services, public health, respite care, and therapies.

The town is also looking to grow Mel Molle Park, which is a greenspace in the north end of Watson.

"We have a beautiful main sign put up and created by FPS. We have street signs up there, and we're hoping to possibly get a walking trail and a few other rest stops in there as well. We're looking forward to getting that project done," said Weber.

On Saturday, the annual Spring Into Watson event was held, with a day of full of activities promoting the area, including a tradeshow and Drive 4UR School event.

The Watson Recreation Board continues to work on allowing more opportunities for an enjoyable atmosphere.

"We provide the community with some entertainment, recreational stuff, and help with some fundraising," says Ashley Reschny with the rec board.

One of the upcoming events is the Slo-Pitch tournament, which will be played out over the Father's Day weekend, June 17-19.

Reschny added that some games will be played under the lights and they are still looking for teams. If you are interested in registering, you can contact Jesse Schwartz at 306-287-8037.
