The Saskatoon Health Region has announced it is cutting 70 jobs.

In a news release on Thursday, CEO Dan Florizone says that both union and non-union jobs are affected.

The group had hoped to avoid layoffs, according to Florizone, but a $30-million gap between expenses and revenue has prompted action.

In Humboldt, some employees at St. Mary's Villa received notification that their employment will be impacted with the cutbacks.

Others have to wait until Monday to find out if they will be included in the reductions.

Individual meetings with employees took place on Thursday, with non-unionized employees, including managers, being notified in the days prior.
