People who have visited the Apple Crate Café may have been exposed to Hepatitis A, the Saskatchewan Health Authority says.

Officials have confirmed a travel-related case of Hepatitis A in a person employed at the restaurant, located in the Glen at Crossmount just outside Saskatoon, the SHA says in a news release.

Any patron who visited this facility and ate food on December 28, 29, 30, 2017, or January 13, 2018 may have been exposed to the hepatitis A virus. Anyone who ate there on those dates is asked to call the Public Health Disease Control office in Saskatoon at 306-655-4612 for more information.

Hepatitis A can be a serious liver disease that is caused by the hepatitis A virus. The virus is transmitted through contaminated food and water. It can be passed by someone infected with the virus who doesn’t wash his/her hands and then touches something you eat.

Symptoms of hepatitis A include loss of appetite, mild ‘flu-like’ illness, severe abdominal pain and diarrhea, nausea, tiredness, fever and jaundice.
