The Humboldt Fire Department, with assistance from the Muenster department is getting set to host the provincial volunteer fire fighter training school this weekend.

Over 200 fire fighters from every corner of the province will take in the event which runs from Friday to Sunday.

HFD Chief Mike Kwasnica expanded on the details, "basically the firefighters will be coming from volunteer fire departments all across the province  from Estevan, Shaunavon to La Ronge and anywhere in between. They come here for a weekend of training and fine tune their skills."

Kwasnica says it takes lots of time and preparation but they are happy to showcase the city and their facilities. Plus they make some money off the event.

"It's a very good fundraiser, it's a lot of work, a lot of pre-work that has to be done and the whole fire department along with the Muenster fire department will be working hard all weekend up until late Sunday to get everything wrapped up but yeah it will be a really good boost to both departments."

This is the seventh time the training school has been held in Humboldt, they hosted it in April of 2013, however they were the first ever to hold the event so the committee wanted to have the milestone event in the city.
