With kids heading back to school this week, the Horizon School Division board office has been hard at work preparing for the new school year.

The new school year also brings changes for Horizon School Division.

Kevin Garinger, the Director of Education for the Horizon School Division explains the process for this week.

"The process is really quite simple. Next week our schools will be open to the public of course, and so parents can come in and register. There will be registration for them, those kinds of things. It's just a matter of any preparation work that's necessary for that September 1st date when we finally, as a Horizon School Division, get our whole team together."

With kids heading back to school on Thursday, the board office has been hard at work to prepare for the school year.

Garinger describes one of the things the school board has been working on over the summer.

"One of the things we're very excited about of course, we put out a literacy brochure. If anybody is interested in getting their hands on it, we have this brochure that will go home to parents of course, and we're going to try and get it into some of our community businesses, that sort of thing. So people can take a look at it while they're sitting in the Doctor's office or sitting in the dentist's office, or something like that."

The new school year also brings changes for Horizon School Division.

Garinger explains one major change for the school division.

"We just unveiled our new website. So it'll continue to be a work in progress, but my Communications Services Officer Lance Hiltz has done so much work in it as well as the I.T. department and in particular Kyle Lamont, and just unreal work to get that up and ready."

School runs for 2 days this week, starting on Thursday, before resuming again after the Labour Day weekend.
