Another Humboldt athlete has hit the international podium, this time for Karate.

Bryce Nagy, who has only been doing karate for 10 years, won Bronze at the World Championships in Krakow, Poland.

He describes the experience. of World's.

"It was very exciting, in Poland, they take their Karate very seriously. It's like Hockey in Canada, they just love it, and they're very athletic at it and very good."

Nagy explains the schedule for the World competition.

"We had two days of competition, I did five events myself, and them me and two other friends of mine from Saskatoon did two team events that we did very well in."

Nagy tells us how it all began 10 years ago.

"I remember, back in 2006, when I was thinking about trying Karate, I never would have thought that I'd be doing comeptitions like this. It's actually pretty interesting because World's was in Canada in 2006, and I was thinking 'Gosh, I'd really like to go watch it." Then, for whatever reason, I ended up joining the club that was involved with that big world tournament, and here I am at World's in 2016."

Nagy now instructs karate here in Humboldt, and plans to return to the world stage sometime soon.

Nagy also thanks those who helped him fundraise for the opportunity to attend World's.
