The post office should be open again Wednesday after going on strike on Tuesday in Humboldt.

The reason for a strike is that job action began after negotiators failed to reach a new contract agreement before the union’s strike deadline as 50,000 workers are frustrated with work environment issues to be sorted out.

Canada post employees across the country have begun rotating strikes which means packages could take much longer than expected to arrive. As a result of the strike, employees have now also had their disability benefits cut.

This may result in people looking for an alternate way to receive their packages and envelopes. Last week, the council addressed the strike and also suggested people should apply for online billing to avoid any late payments on expenses.
