There have been some very warm temperatures as of late, some that are close to record highs for this time of year.

The warm temperatures are thanks to a prior storm system that recently moved through the area.

Natalie Hasell, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, explains what that means for Humboldt.

"Well, a few days ago we were under the influence of a large ridge of pressure, filled with cold arctic air. It has since moved off, and that area is no under a centre of low pressure."

Hasell also notes that the temperatures are very close to breaking the recorded highs.

"It could come very near to it, and with no cloud cover, it will help with any melting happening for sure," stated Hasell.
