It was on November 21st when a Rosetown volunteer firefighter gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Darrel Morrison, 46, was hit by a semi while tending to a two-vehicle crash near the town of Rosetown. It was this past Tuesday that Morrison was laid to rest by family, friends, and first responders.

Mike Kwasnica, Humboldt's Fire Chief, along with two more members of the Humboldt Fire Department attended the funeral to help coordinate the honour guard.

"I didn't know Morrison personally, but he's a volunteer firefighter just like all of us and he does the same thing we do. At the end of the day you expect to come home and unfortunately, something tragically went wrong and that wasn't the case," said Kwasnica.

When asked about what people can learn from this, Kwasnica replied, "People are in a hurry. If there is low visibility or something not right then slow down, be aware of your surroundings, and if any emergency scenes are ahead, please be careful."
