The Humboldt Food Bank is proudly announcing the installation of a brand new walk-in deep freeze.

Treasurer of the Food Bank Shirley Reiter said the new freezer really changes things for them.

"In the past we had four chest freezers, two large and two small, somebody would make a large donation, they would bring it in and we would have to unpack everything to make it fit," she explained. "with the space we have now we walk right in wth our boxes, put them on racks and we can except all kinds of donations."

The purchase of the freezer was made possible by a grant through Food Banks Canada after a donation of almost  $1 million was made to the organization by Wal-Mart.

They also recieved donations from the Humboldt Pee Wee Broncos, as well as donations left over from their building fund.

About 60-75 families utilize the Food Bank each month in Humboldt.

Reiter said they are always open to donations, "we are officially open on Tuesday afternoons, there is somebody at the Food Bank from 2 until 4, other donations are often dropped off at one of the three local grocery stores in their donation bin."

If someone is wishing to make a larger donation arrangements can be made by calling the local food bank at 306-231-9970.
