The Humboldt and District Gallery has a new project underway that the public can take part in.

The yarnbombing project is already underway but the gallery is asking anyone who is interested to stop by.

Programmer Nicki Myker explains exactly what yarnbombing is.

"Yarnbombing is actually what we would call a safe graffiti, basically we do knitting or finger knitting with yarn and we're basically gonna be covering the two or the one tree grate that is outside of the gallery with bright colorful yarn."

Those wishing to assist with the finger knitting can drop by the gallery said Myker, "young, elders, whatever, you don't have to be knitter or a finger knitter, you can come on down and I can teach you how to finger knit. I may not know how to knit but I'm sure other people will be willing to help you out."

The piece of urban knitting that you creat will be added to the final masterpiece.

"We are open extended hours for festival of wreaths from twelve o'clock to five o'clock, and Thursday until eight o'clock at night," said Myker.

The gallery is open on a regular basis from noon to five.

They are hoping to start decorating one of the tree grate's outside of the gallery by next week.
