Thirty-nine local organizations and boards will all benefit from volunteerism in Humboldt.

Humboldt Good Neighbour Store has donated $320,000 for the 2018 year, bringing their 20 year total to $3,153,000.

"At the Good Neighbour Store we have close to 170 volunteers, and we use 20-25 volunteers per day, and they are very active not only at our store but throughout the community as well which shows how prominent the spirit of volunteerism is in Humboldt," said Maureen Doetzel, Chair of the Good Neighbour Store.

Doetzel also went into detail about how applicants are chosen to receive bursaries.

"We had around 60 applicants this year, and of course we would like to give everyone what they feel they need, but the first ones we look at are typically hospitals and care homes."

Doetzel added everyone will need either a hospital and/or a care home at some point in their lives.

The Humboldt Good Neighbour Store has been in operation since 1992 and donating any extra money left over at the end of the year since.
