Irene Mickelson is the team captain for the local group, Humboldt Healthy Hearts.

The group is a Seniors' group that focuses on physical activity during the months of January, February, March, and April.

The Seniors' Globe Walk was initiated by Saskatoon's Council On Aging, and this push is what started Humboldt's group.

Mickelson explains how everyone keeps track of their activity.

"Everybody gets a calendar and they mark on there all their physical activity, every day, and at the end of each month, they can track their activity by miles, time, or steps, and then I convert that to miles, and I submit that to Saskatoon and it's compiled, and just to get the seniors in the province active."

Humboldt's group has completed 1,956 miles in January, and 2,965.5 miles in February.

After much success last year, Mickelson adds they are looking for a bigger goal this year.

"Last year the seniors in Saskatchewan walked to the moon, they had enough miles to make it to moon, so this year the challenge is to get back from the moon."
