This upcoming Monday night the City of Humboldt is hosting an information session regarding storm water management.

City administration is urging residents to have their concerns heard during the session.

Director of Public Works and Utilities Peter Berquist explains more about the agenda.

"We will be doing a presentation which will be focusing on what happened the day of the storm, describing the two different systems we have for water collection which is storm water and sanitary sewer. We will also be describing what residents can do and what options are available for the city to do."

You will be able to learn about the systems, the difference between storm systems and sewer systems and what causes back-ups.

Berquist says they will explain tactics residents can have in place to alleviate flooding.

"We have a rebate program currently in place, we've been advocating for many years now. That is a very direct impact that helps not only the homeowner but the city as it lowers the amount of water going into the sanitary sewer system which wasn't really designed to handle that water."

There will also be representatives on hand to discuss the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

As per the case is more often than not these days with social media the City of Humboldt took it's share of hits in the days following the late June storm, Berquist is pleading with people to bring their concerns and suggestions forward to the Monday meeting.

"What should we do? How should we be moving forward with this? Doing nothing is always an option but we would prefer not to do nothing. We would rather see more weeping tile disconnections, we would like to see perhaps some infrastructure upgrades to address some of the concerns that are out there."

The meeting begins at 7pm in jubilee Hall.
