The Humboldt and District Museum has a new, community-developed exhibit showing the history of the city’s faith communities.

The exhibit is part of Archives Week, a province-wide celebration of historical documents, films and photographs.

The idea is to focus more on the people of the churches and their stories rather than physical artifacts, museum supervisor Jean Price said.

“When you look around the photos in here you’ll notice that a lot of them are full of people, and people doing really cool and interesting things.”

Just about every group that participated focused on the work they do within Humboldt and the wider world, she said. The Ukrainian Catholic Church, for example, brought photos of a bench they fundraised for in the Ukrainian cemetery.

The museum is hosting an Archives Week open house Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The exhibit is funded through a grant from Sask Lotteries.
