Over 70 organization across Canada are receiving a boost from Richardson International, as they invest dollars back in to the communities in which they represent.

"What we really like to support are projects that will benefit the community as a whole," stated Tracey Shelton, Director of Corporate Communications for Richardson. "Things like splash parks, playgrounds, curling clubs, rec centres, fire departments, you name it."

Humboldt Citizens for Better Playgrounds is among five organizations in the area who will split the over $1.5 million distributed.

Save Our Swimming Pool (S.O.S.) in Raymore, the Kelvington School Community Council, Viscount Rec Board, and Watrous Minor Ball are also part of the new funding.

Shelton explained the process they undergo to determine where Richardson contributes.

"We have employees in communities across the prairies, and we really feel they have a good handle of what is going on in their community, so we encourage that local support, and then they make a recommendation."

A total amount of funds received for each project wasn't made known, but Shelton added that their goal is to assist in projects the community is involved in - not projects they would fund outright.

Donations are made possible thanks to the Richardson Foundation, which has been backing community groups since its launch in 1957.
