Many people have heard of the name Terry Fox at one point or another ever since he passed away on June 28th, 1981.

Terry Fox was known as an athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist but most of all Fox is known as a hero all across the country and even the world as he attempted to walk across Canada after losing his leg to cancer. So on Sunday, Humboldt came together to run and raise money for cancer research and also in honour of what Fox did for the country.

"Everybody has been touched by cancer. Somebody knows somebody who has cancer and we're donating to a good cause and the Terry Fox Foundation is a really good cause because 95 percent of funds raised goes straight to cancer research and I think he's just a really inspiring person and everybody knows Terry Fox, you say his name and everyone knows his story," said Terri Tarrant, the organizer of the event for the past 6 years.

Despite the cold day in Humboldt, it didn't stop any of the participants from taking part in the Terry Fox run this year. There was an estimated amount of about 20 people taking part in 3 different routes with the first being 2.5-kilometers. The second and third routes consisted of a 5-kilometer walk and 10-kilometer walk.

Last year the run raised around 700 dollars to go towards the Terry Fox Foundation, and will hopefully reach or surpass that amount this year.
