Deputy Fire Chief Darrell Wickenhauser was presented with the Protective Service Medal for 25 years of service in the Fire department on October 2nd at a presentation in Saskatoon.

The medal is awarded to Emergency Protective Services such as police, fire, EMS, corrections, etc. for years of service in the respective field.

Wickenhauser has been in three different departments throughout his years of service. He spent the first seven and a half years in LeRoy. Then he moved to Melfort where he served 2 more years, and finally,  the last 18 years has been with the Humboldt Fire Department. "I am fortunate to have been a part of three great fire departments with awesome teammates to make this time so enjoyable. I feel very fortunate to be able to receive the award. It's a nice milestone to reach in your career," said Wickenhauser.

"The Most things I always contribute the 27 years to is having good members on your fire department, that makes it much easier to practice and complete your tasks throughout your career," he added.

The 25-year Protective Service Medal was awarded to him by Lieutenant Governor W. Thomas Malloy.
