The Humboldt Broncos and Hockey Gives Blood joined forces once again and called on citizens to register for Stem Cell swabbings during Game 4 of the Broncos vs Bruins playoff series.

The drive to register as many people as they could on the Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell Registry was in support of former Humboldt Bronco Jamie Ficko and other patients who are currently searching for a match.

57 males between the age of 17-35 went down to the EPA to get registered and swabbed.

"That's a fantastic result for a community of 6,000. Comparatively speaking, Saskatoon's event did 137 for a community of 300,000 people. Humboldt showed up to support in a big way. On behalf of the Broncos and Hockey Gives Blood we just want to thank everyone immensely who came down," said Humboldt Broncos Vice President Maury Simoneau.

Jamie Ficko is a Humboldt resident, a former Humboldt Bronco, and a father of three who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Jamie is one of over 1000 patients in Canada who currently can't find a 100% match in the International Stem Cell Registry.

"As many people know, Jamie is Humboldt Bronco alumni, he's a resident of Humboldt, and for anyone who does know him, just a terrific person. As part of the Broncos having a relationship with Jamie from the past, we thought it was important to do our part to raise awareness and get as many people on the registry as we could."

The Broncos were victorious 8-4 over the Bruins that night, and another victory was shown by the support from the community of Humboldt.
