The Humboldt Theatre Club is holding auditions for their inaugural production to be held later this summer.

The auditions will be held at Westminster United Church on Saturday from 7 to 10 PM and sunday from 3 to 7PM.

Former Humboldt Players Club member Larry Jorgenson describes how he got involved when he started in the 1990's.

"I just kind of got to know the group of people that were doing it and got involved that way and found it to be really fun. Like a lot of people I did drama when I was in school, I was from a really small school but we still put on a variety night once a year sort of thing, so all through High School I was one of the guy's that did stuff with that. It interested me and I did it, and it was fun."

The Theatre Club is the first stage-play group since the Humboldt Players Club disbanded in the early 2000s.

Jorgenson recalls fond memories of his Players days.

"It wasn't just plays, sometimes they would write their own skits. I think one time they had a Medival Feast night where they would all get together, write crazy stuff, and just put this on. It was a fundraiser for the group to just fund (to keep) doing it."

Jorgenson believes the Humboldt Theatre Club should be a hit.

"You've even seen the the Golf Course group that gets together, puts on a dinner theatre. They have absolutely no trouble selling tickets. People are travelling to Meacham and Annahiem every time there is a dinner theatre on. Those groups have no problem selling it out. People want to come and enjoy theatre."

Auditions are open for anyone 17 years old or older, and are open from 7 to 10 saturday night and 3 to 7 sunday afternoon.
