Residents of Humboldt are encouraged to take part in the Water Tower fundraising barbecue Saturday at noon hour.

The funds raised go to support the ongoing restoration of the water tower. Dan Steiner from the Water Tower describes what you would hear and see on a water tower tour.

"If you take the full tour, you'll be able to hear about how the tower worked, the stages the water went through before it got out to the people and mostly the history behind it, and why we decided to keep it."

Steiner works at the water tower. He talks about some of the history of the water tower.

"The year was 1914-15, the year it was constructed. It was built of course, to have an adequate supply of water for the town at that time. It was considered adequate and it was, it was used until 1977."

The Humboldt Water Tower Committee will be holding a Barbecue at Humboldt Co-op Friday.

Jean Price from the Humboldt and District Museum gives us a few details on the Barbecue.

"The barbecue is going to be at the Co-op. It will be from 11 o'clock until one o'clock. For five dollars you get a burger, a drink, and a cookie, so it's a great opportunity to come out and support the water tower."

Water tower tours are also beginning soon. Starting July 27th, tours will run Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
