Last year brought financial challenges for the City of Humboldt.

The city was out hundreds of thousands of dollars after the Sask Party government cut grants in lieu payments - a decision that hasn’t been reversed, city manager Joe Day said.

Still, the city made progress on a few big projects, such as the curbside garbage and recycling program, water plant improvements, and groundwork at Centennial Park, he said.

City administration is working on a 2018 budget to present to council.

“I do foresee that we’re going to get a lot of infrastructure work addressed in 2018. So that means some of our water mains and roadway surfaces,” Day said.

“At the very least a whole lot of planning will occur, but I’m certainly hoping that we can get a lot of work done as well.”
